It's FAWM-time again - February Album Writing Month. I'm at 5 songs and with 3 days to go I need to finish 9 songs. So give a me list of topics to write about- anything! I promise I will show them this time, I just got a new recorder!

And yeah, I still need to show Kit the song about the board game and slackergirl one about oatmeal (I did write them last year!).

One of the guys at the job center suggested me to some company that had a division where they made company movies (I think mostly for internal use). Yesterday I had a talk with that company, 4 people, and it was supposed to be an open conversation as they said they were interested in me because I could do both video editing and IT-related things.

So I went into the conversation and one of the guys asked me, "so video editing is something you want to do?". I said "of course!".

And that was almost the end of the conversation.

I wish it was a that easy. :P He said it was nice meeting me and that I should have a talk with the video guy, because he was the expert. He was on vacation though and I have a meeting with him next week.

The thing is, they said I should bring some of my videos to show. So this weekend I will be quickly cutting some of the interesting scenes of the short movies/trailers/documentaries I have done, but I was wondering if it would be wise to put some AMVs in between that? I was thinking of putting Corazon between it to show I can do some animation and design work as well. And maybe the Youtube clip I've found of Senpai Says to show I have made a video that can rock a crowd.

So what do you think? I still have trouble in thinking how to create a short show reel that can show what I can do with video editing though...

So did anybody test it out already?

If you're living in the US and have some time, Adobe & Behance is holding a contest where you can win CS5:

Good luck!

I've been following the Tumblr of Adventure Time for a while and I'm quite excited about the launch tonight! Even though we have no Cartoon Network and it won't show anywhere here at 8:00 PM like in the US, I'm pretty sure there will be a torrent around with the show.

For those who don't know, here's an episode that has been made 2 years ago by a guy named Pendleton Ward. It is now developed into a series. Awesome stuff, so if you live in the US, watch it!

If you don't know it yet, check out YouTube today. As an April Fool's option they have "TextP" under the resolution options which displays the video in ASCII mode (all text).

So if you ever wondered how your videos look like in ASCII art, now's your chance!

Having no money sucks, this first half year I missed out on plenty of concerts because of that - most of them I really wanted to see: Imogen Heap, MGMT, Flight of the Concords and Swell Season. :\

Good stuff happened too!Collapse )

As some of you know, I'm now busy with writing my Master thesis. It's sort of in the beginning stages at the moment and I'm at the point where I need to define different types of users/groups, their needs and their habits. So in order to get a impression, I need to interview some people, which actually can be anybody, as long as you listen to music and go to concerts once in a while. If you are a performer, then even better!

I have a few simple questions about music, which you can find at the following places:

If you're mostly a listener of music:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=98979

If you're mostly a performer:
http://fawm.org/forums/thread/1115/

You can also respond here if you rather do that.

I mostly need die-hard fans and artists that have some sort of a fanbase, as well as event promoters. They are rarer to find, so if you know some and are willing to answer some questions, let me know! If you know places to post these questions at, let me know too!

Thanks a bunch!

For FAWM (fawm.org, where the challenge is to write 14 songs in February) I actually spend most of February trying to search for new chord progressions and melodies and made 5 I think. No lyrics written for those yet. Then I went on to looking for old songs to finish, which only needed lyrics. I counted of those 19 songs. Of course I didn't those. :P

Then last week I decided to just write a bunch of short songs. I already wrote 4 short songs and then in the last 2 days I wrote another 10, where the last 5 in the last 3-4 hours. Those are probably the most crappy songs I've ever written! I thought it was better to spend more time to the songs which already were half written, instead of rushing to complete them.

So I reached the goal for FAWM! 14 songs written in February! Four of them have topics suggested by Kit and Slackergirl, so we have a song about dinosaurs, cheesecake and oatmeal.

Yay!

Okay, I've been surfing on the web today like every other day and this thing called "Pancake Day" keeps popping up on several sites.

Yummmmmmm!

Now tell me more about this Pancake Day!

February Album Writing Month as seen on the website: http://fawm.org . The deal is to write 14 songs in 28 days. Not sure if I can make that, but it sure sounds like fun (and productive) to do, so I will try writing 14 songs this month!

You know what sounded like fun to me? If you guys suggested topics to write about - like little assignments - and I'll try writing one with that suggested topic. It can range from something like "write a song about your trip to the US" to "write a song about a floating piece of paper that floats around the Arctic circle". Whatever you like to hear a song about!

I cannot promise it will be a good song, but you might be able to get a good laugh (or cry?) out of it!
